Synopsis |
This set of
tales is different from other books in that the child will be able
to interact with the characters of his or her choosing. Each tale
presents a situation in which the characters, with the help of the
child, must find a solution to the current problem.
Within each
tale, the storyteller interrupts the animals in the story and
explains that he or she is telling several children all about their
adventures. The storyteller then continues to explain how maybe the
child could help solve the animals’ current dilemma. The child is
asked by the storyteller if he or she might have any ideas on how to
solve the dilemma, and which character the child would like to speak
to. The child then begins his/her correspondence with the animals
in the story via the storyteller.
In the first
book, The Journey Begins, four rabbits at a fair try to save
a hot air balloon from, they believe, becoming engulfed in flames.
The bunnies are not successful in putting out the flame and choose
to gnaw through the lines securing the balloon. This results in the
ascent of the hot air balloon into the night sky with the cool
evening breeze guiding the hot air balloon far away. The first
problem encountered is how to land a hot air balloon! Each
sequential tale will introduce a new problem as the animals find
their way home. |

Other Information |
When my
daughters were 5 and 6 years old, and for several years after, I
told bed time stories creating the plot as I went. One evening, I
felt that my tales of two bunnies, Sarah Rabbit and Lindsay Rabbit
(of which my daughters were the inspiration), along with other
characters, had become mundane. It was this evening in which I
decided to take on the personification of the bunnies, in an effort
to collaborate with my daughters a solution to the problem at hand.
I’ll never forget how my daughter’s responded – they were
mesmerized. As such, I feel this series of books will be enjoyed by
children everywhere and for generations to come!
